Hello nail art lovers!

Today I want to share with you the easiest nail art I opt for when I am out of free time but still want a beautiful nail design. This is a simple principle which can be followed with various nail polish shades and effects and will still give you that same glam effect.

Simple nail design principle which always works
For this fast and easy nail design principle you will need a nail polish with some kind of effect added to it. This may be glitter, color particles, holo flakes, etc. You will also need a nail shade which matches your first nail polish added color. For example if you put white nail polish with gold flakes on 4 nails and a gold full color on your last nail, you will have a simple nail art design which always works!

This is how I recreated this simple nail art principle a few days ago when I was going on a planned event but was running out of time for manicure.

This is OPI Wonderous Star on 4 nails and a black color on my ring finger. I love how this nail design turned out and will tell you some more about the golden beauty featured in it.

OPI Wonderous Star review
OPI Wonderous star was released in 2013 for the upcoming Christmas Holiday season. It is part of the collection OPI launched in collaboration with Mariah Carey that year. OPI Wonderous Star is a platinum silver fine glitter in a clear base, with hexagonal shaped black flakes added. The formula is rather thin in comparison with the usual glitter nail polish. It is very easy to control how much hexagonal effects you get on nails, formula is buildable and in two coats it will leave you with this gorgeous platinum silver color with some black accents here and there. OPI Wonderous start dries fast so you should not worry if you wish to layer more coats of it but for my nail design I only needed two.

OPI Wonderous Star will make a perfect top coat to add some shine to different nail colors. I have tried over darks such as black and grey and also lights such as white and nude shades and it has worked great on every base so far. For the mani below I applied it over Zoya Chantal.

I will be showing more nail designs featuring my simple ad easy nail art rule I shared with you in this post. I will also show you more of OPI Holiday Season 2013 nail polishes soon so stay tuned!

Hello lovelies!

Today we will have a look at a new nail polish collection for spring 2014 by OPI. What I love about OPI is that they are restless in releasing new collections so you can never get bored with them. This time we are talking about OPI collaboration with The Muppets movie and its outcome: OPI Muppets Most Wanted collection 2014. So welcome back to my Preview column where we talk about anticipated and inspiring nail products that are about to be released!

This is the second nail polish collection created with The Muppets, the previous having been launched for the first Muppets movie in 2013. So once again OPI partners with these little iconic creatures to release theme nail colors in March 2014 for the movie premiere in the United States and in April for international customers. You can get the colors online or at nail salons partnering with OPI.

Butterfly, butterfly,
Where do you go?
“Where the sun shines,
And where the buds grow.”
Children’s song

Hello nail art lovers!

Today I want to show you a butterfly nail art. It is cute and playful, I had a lot of fun making and wearing it. I love nail designs which seem intricate and difficult to make but are actually easy if you follow the few how-to steps. These butterfly wings are that design, read on for a tutorial how to recreate it yourself.

First, paint your nails pink.
I thought a vibrant and playful pink shade would be the ideal for this nail art. I picked OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips for the perfect butterfly wings color.

Then, add the black detail.

– add 3 black lines
The black detail of these cute butterfly wings has 3 lines for a base: one closer to your cuticles and shorter and two using it for a start point and crossing the nail almost to its end. Imagine that you are painting the Sun with sun rays as in nursery school but you see a little part of Sun’s body and only two of its rays.

– connect with arcs
When you have your two rays placed, connect their ends with arks or half moons if you wish :)

– paint the end black
Then, color the remaining upper part of the nail black. Your butterfly wing is ready and it will look a lot more like one when we add the final detail.

Then, add white dots.
After your black is in place, add tiny white dots to the end of your nails. They make the wings even cuter and at this point your nail design should look like a butterfly wing.

Last, finish off with a top coat.
A nice clear top coat will make a miracle to smooth out your design and blend all details together. Mine is a strangely shiny butterfly but if you want your nail design to look a bit more real you can add a matte top coat.

Hello nail art lovers!

Today I am so excited to rave about Gwen Stefani nail color collection for OPI which has already been launched and is available in some stores. You remember my anticipation for this collection and the post I dedicated to it. Let’s see some color swatches and dream about the colors until we are able to get it for ourselves! At least that’s what I’m going to do :)

All swatches are from oflifeandlacquer.com where you will also find some honest opinion on the collection quality. Unfortunately, I do not own any of these bottles yet, so I will not be commenting on anything rather than nail polish color.

This collection was advertised to feature 5 colors in different finishes and also one mysterious color called Push and Shove which is finally revealed. Read on to see what shade it is!

OPI Hey Baby

OPI Hey Baby, NL G26 was described this way: When it comes to pinks, you’re the “bright” one for me. I absolutely love this color. It is such a vivid and bright color in a must have nail color shade.

OPI I Sing in Color

OPI I Sing in Color, NL G27 was described this way: The deep tones of this luscious blackberry hit all the right notes. It is a very rare shade. I love how dark red turns into black and vise versa according to how light hits your nails.

OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby, NL G28 was described this way: This matte gold with satin sheen complements all your passions. I like the idea of a mat gold color. I think it is much more wearable than your common gold which usually comes with glitter.

OPI 4 in the Morning

OPI 4 in the Morning, NL G29 was described this way: This dramatic, satin black is a hit in after parties. I am a huge fan of black color. It makes a great base color, it is perfect for nail art combinations and with the added value of a satin finish, this color is so me :)

OPI In True Stefani Fashion

OPI In True Stefani Fashion, NL G31 was described this way: Don’t gotta be a hollaback girl to love this hollagraphic silver glitter. I like this formula, seems great for combining with other colors to achieve varied looks.

OPI Push and Shove

OPI Push and Shove swatch

OPI Push and Shove, NL G30 is a silver metallic. Metallic colors are a total trend for 2014 and also add an unusual accent not only to manicure but to your whole outfit. This particular formula looks a little strange to me because it does not look flattery on nails and somehow tells everything you try to conceal with nail polish.

Over & Over A-Gwen

Over & Over A-Gwen box

Over & Over A-Gwen was no surprise to me. It is Gwen Stefani’s signature color: red. It is a classic red shade which comes in an individual box accompanied with nail art supplies. You will find Swarovski crystals, metallic studs, nail art glue and a guide book with some designs you can recreate using this kit.

If you want to see some more swatches of the collection, colors with and without top coat and with different lighting, I strongly suggest the Polish Aholic presentation for this collection!

Let me know how you feel about Gwen Stefani for OPI color collection, which colors might find a place in your collection?
