Hello lovelies!

If I was asked to pick one single nail color for being most versatile, I would definitely say white. White nail polish is great for summer and winter, it makes the perfect canvas for a number of nail art techniques and designs and to add up, it is super trendy for 2014. Unfortunately, it is popular for being difficult to work with. Those of you who have been through the white polish experience know the usual formula is rather thick, tends to streak, dries slowly and for all of the above is very easy to get on your nerves. Stay with me for my tips how to make white nail polish work.

How to make white nail polish work

TIP 1: Invest in a good formula
If you are going to pick a white nail polish, you have good chances to skip some of its flaws with getting it from a good brand. I know white seems too plain a color to invest in time for reading reviews and money for getting a high end one but trust me, this may change your attitude to white forever. Most of the major brands have a variety of white formulas so know what you need, do a little reading and enjoy the difference :)

TIP2: Do not skip the base coat
Taking a few extra minutes to apply your base coat will help even color application a lot. Streaking should not be such a problem if your nail has been evened out and prepped for color application.

TIP 3: Work with thin coats
White polishes are on the thicker side and usually streak. I know you may want to speed things up and give your nails a couple of nice thick coats in your hope to avoid streaking and get beautiful coverage faster. Unfortunately, this approach will most probably leave you with a never drying bubbly thick mess on your nails and you will eventually have to start everything over. So less is more in this scenario. After you have applied your base coat, start adding thin layers of nail polish until you get the coverage you need.

TIP 4: Thin if you have to
If you feel your white color is too thick to control well, then I suggest you add a few drops of nail polish thinner to the formula. Start with adding little because you can always add more later but you cannot take any away.

TIP5: Wait for layers to dry
It is very important to wait for each layer to dry completely before you add more color. As white is usually used as a base color for various nail art techniques, you are most likely to add something on your last white layer so it should be dry. If not, you are risking smudges and bubbles and you know this will ruin your manicure.

My white nail polish routine
With practice I have learnt what works best for me and have been following the same nail polish application steps when it comes to white. So my routine is: a base, a thin white layer, a second thin white layer, a fast drying top coat. The white I am currently using and getting out of is Essie Blanc and my fast dry top coat is Essie Good to Go. Check my thought on Essie Good to Go top coat if it sparks your interest.

Do you have more secrets to apply white nail polish and get the most of it?

Hello lovelies!

I am so excited to tell you about my new natural colors palette! I got three shades of Zoya Naturel spring 2014 nail polish range and have for you some swatches and thoughts on the collection.

Zoya Naturel collection features six natural nail colors. I would say they are not ‘natural’ in the way of ‘nude’ but more like in the way of complementing complexion and creating a natural as the opposite of artificial look. Not sure if this makes much sense so I got some photos which I hope will make the whole idea clear.

Zoya Naturel spring 2014 collection

Zoya Naturel spring 2014 collection

Packaging
Zoya Naturel spring 2014 nail colors of come in classic Zoya nail polish bottles. Bottles are on the larger side as you get 15ml of nail polish, they have a black plastic cap. I find the package stylish and bottles easy to hold.

Formula and Application
Zoya nail polishes are free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP, Formaldehyde Resin & Camphor, those big five chemicals you do not want on your nails. All Zoya Naturel nail polishes are opaque crèmes. Formula is rather thin but very pigmented so you get full coverage in two thin coats. The brush is flexible enough and incredibly easy to control. These colors have a glossy finish and would not require a top coat if its sole purpose is to add shine to your manicure. I think this collection would make my ultimate office nail wear as it is so fast and easy to get your nails done using these polishes.

Colors
All colors from the Naturel 2014 aim to complement different skin tones and provide a natural look. You have them in six shades named after ladies. Zoya Chantal, Zoya Taylor and Zoya Rue are the nude like shades of the range; Zoya Brigitte, Zoya Odette and Zoya Normani have a purplish hue to them.

I think these are great to wear at the office, a business occasion or a formal event as they are delicate yet feminine enough to add some glamour to your look without catching too much attention when you might not want it.

The ones I got and I believe go best with my complexion are:

Zoya Chantal is a nude beige and is a classic skin tone shade. It is the perfect nude nail color if you, like me have a relatively light skin with yellow undertone.

Zoya Brigitte is a sort of a mauve shade with a strong pink hue. I find this shade to  work great with a larger range of skin tones. It builds super easy and leaves you with a refined pink without the pink shade, ideal for business meetings.

Zoya Normani is a taupe crème with a delicate purple vibe. It is cool toned and probably my favorite of the whole range. I love cool taupe shades and this one is rather unique for its purple add on.

Wear
These polishes wear great, do not fade, have a glossy finish and you count on at least three days without additional layers and up to a whole work week with a base and top coat.

Price and availability
Zoya nail polishes are on the pricier side and personally I prefer to get them with some kind of promotion. You can get them by different retailer online and offline, I prefer to get mine through official Zoya website. This collection is already available for purchase.

My verdict
I am simply in love with this range. Colors are wearable and suit a lot of occasions. Nail polish formula is safe and easy to apply. These polishes save time for they build to full color with a glossy finish in only two coats. The collection is a bit pricey but if you are lucky to get some discount or find a promotion, definitely go for it!

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed. I will be  posting a review and swatches post on Zoya Pixie Dust summer 2013 nail polish collection so stay tuned!

Hello lovelies!

I am so happy to write this post today because I can brag about my gorgeous pastel nail colors :) I have for you today swatches of the prettiest pastels collection and some thoughts on my Fruit Pastel experience.

You know how much I am into pastels this season. I have shown you my pastels inspiration board for spring 2014 and some pastel candy nail art. It was pretty predictable that I saved a place for pastel nail colors in my spring 2014 wish list. I did a good research on which colors to get and which brand to choose because I wanted the perfect palette which to me is soft, shy and unique shades. I definitely wanted a pale yellow and a lilac color, a mint and candy pink would be a good fit to my nail polish collection in general. So there they were, perfectly complementing each other, prettiest pastels ever and fruity scented! You cannot blame me for getting whole Models Own Fruit Pastel collection as soon as I saw it.

Packaging
The whole Fruit Pastel presentation is very cute. These colors come in a standard Models Own nail polish bottle but have a fruit sticker on top and color printed caps. Lined together the polishes from this collection form a beautiful pastel palette which immediately melted my heart. The bottles are easy to hold and convenient to store.

Formula and application
Formula is creamy and a bit on the thicker side. You should apply color carefully if you want to get full coverage in two coats as it does not build very evenly. I suggest you paint a thin coat first and after it dries add a second thicker coat to ensure opaque look. This may leave you with longer drying time if you are not using a specific product to speed the process up.

Once the colors dry you get the loveliest surprise: they smell like fruit flavored treats. The aroma is different for each color, subtle and easily goes on for two days. The polishes have great shine after they dry and it is not a must to use a top coat for shine boost. If you do however, the scent works with a top coat too.

Colors
The Fruit Pastel collection features five of the prettiest creamy pastel shades out there. All are named after fruity treats. The two photos to follow illustrate colors in order of appearance.

Strawberry Tart is a peachy pink, girly and candy like

Moddels Own Strawberry Tart swatch
Banana split is a soft yellow shade, I find it to be the most unique and rare color of all five
Apple pie is a creamy mint color, pale enough not to turn too green
Blueberry Muffin is a light blue color
Grape juice is a romantic lilac creme

Wear
With a base and a top coat these cuties last up to four days. I have noticed no difference in how the shades wear, color stays the same and does not fade.

Price and availability
Each Fruit Pastel from this collection costs £5 but you can get all five of them for £20. This collection is available at Models Own online store as well as their partnering retailers. I ordered my collection online as you cannot find Models Own brand at all where I live so it was a simple choice for me.

My verdict
I love the whole collection, pastels are a key nail trend for spring 2014 and I am happy with my choice. I will add all the colors to my permanent nail color collection but I agree that if you just want to have some fun with the trend  while it is on there are some more pocket friendly brands you will find in drugstores.

What do you think of them?

Hello lovelies!

I recently bumped on an Essie products sale at a local beauty store and had to take advantage of it! While browsing the discount shelves I decided to get my hands on something of that brand I had not tried before. And there it was, beautifully packaged and appealing with its promise, Essie Good to Go, the fast drying top coat. You could not blame me for snatching a bottle at least because I’ll tell you my honest view on it :)

Packaging
Essie Good to Go comes in an individual package with a mini nail polish stand inside. It looks appealing and more like a nail care product. It comes in a classic 15 ml Essie bottle.

Application
Essie Good to Go has a rather runny formula which is a good thing for me as I am a bit tired of those overly thick and difficult to work with fast dry top coats out there (yes Seche, it is you I am referring to). It is very easy to apply this top coat with the fat brush which is wide enough to pick the right amount of formula and to cover the whole nail with one stroke.

What it does
First, while I was counting seconds to see if Essie Good to Go will impress me with its drying speed, I immediately noticed this full coverage shine on my nails. They got that brilliant look almost immediately so shine is definitely a strong point for this top coat. This is a photo of this top coat over Manhattan Rock Topia limited edition nail polish #4. You can see the glass like effect of the color.

Manhattan Rock Topia #4 with Essie Good to Go top coat

Then, it dries fast. I mean it dries surprisingly amazingly fast not only on the surface but somehow in between the nail polish layers. It sets color within seconds and 2 minutes are perfectly enough to say your nails are done. I can say this top coat saved an hour of my life that day I first tried it and an hour more of each day I will use it. This is exactly how much time I am like paralyzed after doing my nails and afraid to touch anything so that I won’t ruin my freshly done nails.

Last, it wears great. With Good to Go on I can enjoy that brilliant shine for at least three days in a row which is perfect for me. After a while it gets a little flat but if you feel your manicure has a couple more days of life to it, go ahead and apply the top coat again. Magic happens still :)

Price range and availability
Essie Good to Go is on the pricier side for a top coat and I must admit if it was not for that Essie products sale I would not have shelled that money on a top coat. But now as I think of all top coats I have tried only to get disappointed, this Good to Go one may be worth its price. You can get it at any Essie counter at your local beauty store, at online beauty retailers as well as official Essie site so I would say it is easy to find.

After having worn it for a while I should say it works great with all kinds of nail polish brands. Another thing is it does not smudge nail art and does a great job to smooth out a nail design and make all coats of nail polish blend perfectly.

My verdict
I should definitely change my all time favorite top coats list and save Essie Good to Go a place as it is a great product.

Have you tried Essie Good to Go? What did you think of it? What is your fav top coat, I’d love to know!

Hello lovelies!

Today I want to show you these sugary nails which I think would make the perfect DIY bridal manicure. Sweet sugar is not only in this airy white color but also in its beautiful texture.

Sally Hansen Sugar Fix 200

Sally Hansen Sugar Fix 200

I recently got my Sally Hansen polishes from their Sugar Coat collection and hurried to put on the white one called Sugar Fix 200. It dried to the most lovely 3D texture! I still cannot stop looking at my nails and it has been almost a week now, lol.

All this time I was thinking that Sally Hansen Sugar Fix 200 will make the perfect DIY wedding manicure. It is easy to apply by yourself, I have 3 coats on my nails for this lovely sugar white bridal manicure and this is all you need. Tip! You do not need a top coat for these sugar nails. It is likely to smooth out the texture too much and you definitely want to show it off. It is also very durable, I have been wearing it for almost a week now and it still has no chips so it will be ideal for that long and special wedding day. It is very affordable. And still, it is not your plain white, it is sweet sugar on your wedding nails and has that extra something to add to your bridal manicure!

I will review Sally Hansen Sugar Coat collection in an upcoming post although you may have guessed my positive thoughts on it already :) I hope this idea inspired your easy and sweet wedding nails!
