This is my first post in the Manicure Essentials column which is dedicated to vital nail products other than nail color.
I chose to start this column with the nail polish thinner for its many benefits to your nail polish collection. It is a product which revives your older nail polishes and helps prolonge the life of your colors collection. As simple as that sounds, nail thinner will change your view to older bottles and literally save you money.
What is it?
It is basically nail polish solvent but not acetone. Acetone is not suitable for nail polish and will ruin your color and its consistency.
How does it work?
You just have to drop a few drops into your polish bottle and shake. Every nail polish thinner drop will change the consistency of the polish so make sure to add one at a time, then shake the bottle and see how the result works for you. You can always add more but cannot take back any, so be careful not to overdo the thinning part :)
My favorite thinner is Orly Nail Lacquer Thinner. It works great will all polishes I have tried it with, it is rather cheap and a little goes a long way. Butyl acetate and ethyl acetate, its only ingredients, are the most commonly used polish solvents and thus it goes well with all kinds of products, no matter the brand.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed!.
