Hello lovelies!

Today’s post is my first nail polish comparison on the blog.

Essie Shearling Darling OPI Visions of Love

Essie Shearling Darling and OPI Visions of Love comparison and swatches

The stars are the dark and vampy Essie Shearling Darling and OPI Visions of Love. Both are winter 2013 releases and look like each other very much. I love deep reds and I am happy I have these in my collection but with them being so close color siblings I am not sure I would insist on both in future.

To compare the colors I have Essie Shearling Darling on my index and middle fingers and OPI Visions of Love on my ring and little fingers, each in two coats with one layer of top coat. Simply by looking at the swatches you can tell Shearling Darling is a bit lighter than OPI Visions of Love. These shots were taken in daylight and this color difference is much more visible than if you are looking at the colors in artificial light.

The formula of these two is rather different though. Essie Shearling Darling is a creme, super easy to apply and build perfect coverage in two coats. Dries fast and with a top coat wears great for two days. OPI Visions of Love is a sheer creme or a crelly if you wish. First coat goes on a bit patchy and if you do not pay special attention when applying the second coat you may need even a third one to get flawless color. Two coats and a top layer wear perfect for three days.

Both Shearling Darling and Visions of love are awful stainers so I suggest using them over a base and removing them with extra caution or they might color your cuticles in a reddish color and make them look sore.

Thanks for reading my thoughts on these two mysterious beauties, I hope you enjoyed!

Hello lovelies!

I am seriously into the blue with nail polish and I am saying this in the most positive aspect possible :) When it comes to nail color I am rediscovering blue shades and today I want to show you two stunning beauties from L.A. Girls 3D Effects Holograph nail polish collection.

Colors
L.A. Girls 3D Effects Holograph nail polish collection features a total of eight shades and it was extremely hard for me to pick only the two I am showing you in this post. I got Brilliant blue and Teal Dimension.

L.A. Girl 3D Effects Holograph Brilliant Blue is a royal blue base color with little holographic parts added to it.

Formula and application
These colors are very easy to work with and application does not require any special attention. For my photos I have two coats of color and then one layer of top coat. Your first coat may appear a bit sheer but base color will build up perfectly with the second layer. L.A. Girld 3D Effects Holograph nail polishes really have a beautiful three dimensional effect but they dry smooth and glossy.

Holo particles catch light beautifully leaving you with a full impact effect in both artificial and sunlight.

Wear
With two coats of color and one layer of top coat these wear perfectly for three day. I had some worries that these would stain nails as most blue shades do but L.A. Girls 3D Effects polishes leave your nail base in great shape.

My Verdict
With these polishes stunning holo effect, beautiful colors and perfect layer I will definitely be getting more colors from this range! I love them!

Hello lovelies!

So excited for this post today! I recently ordered a number of Dance Legend nail polishes and they were finally in the nail mail last week!

Dance Legend is a Russian professional nail lacquer brand with a huge range of colors, their effects nail polishes being most impressive. Unfortunately, they have poor distribution outside Russia so instead of consenting to the limited shade  availability in the few UK brand retailers, I got my package shipped directly from Russia :) I got some amazing formulas I will be showing you later but today I want to present my Dance Legend RIO collection nail polish.

Color
Dance Legend RIO nail polish collection is all about bright neon glitter. I got RIO #5 which is a clear base packed with three bright colors of glitter: green, pink and blue. Glitter of this formula has different size and shape in all three colors, so you get tiny dots, even larger hex and square shapes and star shaped parts. All this is a neon tropical party in a bottle, I love the RIO #5 approach to glitter!

I wore RIO #5 over white and really enjoyed this combination. I love how you can get a different effect depending on the base color you use and also depending on the colors you pear this polish with. I swatched it with different colors to give you some ideas how to pair it and never get bored.

Formula and application
RIO #5 clear base is densely packed with glitter and simply gives your neon shapes a way to stick to nails. Formula dries semi matte and if you want full shine effect I suggest adding a top coat. Base darkens a tiny bit, you can tell this when you use this color over white but I do not think it is visible to the casual eye :)

Glitter sticks to nails easily and I love how you can manipulate it for a neon full impact neon glitter nail to a less busy look depending on how much glitter you get on. I found the star shaped parts a bit tricky, their outmost ends tend to stick out and start clinging to your clothes and hair so I suggest to place the stars at the center of your nail where there is enough flat space for them to stick properly.

Wear
RIO #5 basically wears as long as your base color does.It is easy to remove and super fun to wear.

I wish Dance Legend nail polishes were available and easy to get in Europe and hope to see them around more soon.

Hello lovelies!

Today I want to show you a textured nail color from Konad. I was sent Konad Sandy in Coral Bronze for honest review and in this post I will share with you how I feel about it.

Color
I was super interested in trying Sandy out because it was a surprise to me that Konad do regular nail polish in addition to their special stamping formulas. My nail polish is called Coral Bronze and is a copper shade with tiny gold particles.

Here are some shots showing Coral Bronze with and without top coat.

Formula and application
Konad Sandy line features textured colors with a matte finish. I applied Coral Bronze in two layers to get the effect from the photos. Formula is rather thick and very easy to apply with the dense brush Sandy line is equipped with. Color is opaque and you can easily go one coat but the textured finish is more visible in two.

Coral Bronze dries fast and is extremely easy to remove. You do not need some special procedures to take it off and this is a huge plus for me when it comes to textured nail polishes as sometimes they are a total pain to remove.

Wear
I had Konad Sandy in Coral Bronze on for three days. Without a top coat it wears perfect for a day and then starts to fade towards nail tips. With a top coat on Coral Bronze had no chips or color fades for the whole three day period I wore it. Tip! Wear the textured look for a day and then add a top coat. This way you will enjoy variety and you won’t have to change a full color for your perfect mani :)

My verdict
I loved this nail color for three main reasons. First, it does not need much to do your nails, just the normal two coat procedure and the average drying time. Second, it comes off very easily. And then, I love how this shade complements a yellow undertone complexion. This is by far the most lovely copper shade I have tried as I find this range of colors usually look strange with my skin tone.

Hello lovelies!

With so much sunshine lately I absolutely got into bright and cheery nail polish colors. Today I want to show a vibrant and obsessive sparkly blue. Stay with me for some thoughts on Zoya Liberty.

Here is a photo of Zoya Liberty with two coats and without added top coat.

Color
Zoya Liberty is part of Zoya Pixie Dust nail polish line and was released in summer 2013 in a collection of 6 shades. Liberty is a bright blue color with silver sparkle added to it. I think it makes the perfect beach shade and you will get the most of it in sunshine.

Formula and application
Zoya Pixie Dust nail polishes feature a textured formula with glitter particles which dries matte. It definitely is on the thicker side but still easy to control and get precision with the thin and long brush the whole collection is equipped with. It is easy to achieve full coverage with two coats. Tip! Formula needs a bit more to dry so my advice is to wait for your first coat to dry completely and then add the second one. This way you will not top up too much wet nail polish together and will have to wait less at the end. Zoya Liberty took 5 minutes to get touch dry and 15 to be good to go.

I takes some time to apply and dry, especially if you, like me, prefer the top coat version but I have found my perfect routine to wear it:

apply one coat => wait for 5 min => apply another coat => wait for 15 min => add a fat, gel like top coat => finish off with a fast dry top coat.

Wear
Zoya Liberty wears great without a top coat. The Pixie Dust line is not supposed to be combined with a top coat so without a top coat and only two layers of nail polish you can easily go with it for five days. I love to add a top coat to Zoya Liberty because I love how it looks with a glaze added to it. With a top coat you can wear it for a whole week. Mind that a single layer of top coat will sink into the formula so you will need at least two.

My verdict
Zoya Liberty is a super beautiful blue shade which transforms from matte to glaze depending on if you decide to add a top coat or not. It is so easy to use and wear so I recommend it to a textured bright shade lover.

What do you think of this color? Have you tried any of the Pixie Dust shades?

You know I plan my nail polish purchases and do a good research before I buy new nail polish. I have already told you why in my How to build nail polish wish list for the upcoming season post. So these 6 beauties were planned to be my spring to summer 2014 nail colors. I know I will probably get a few more shades but this is my educated choice for the moment :)

Somehow all my spring to summer colors turned out to be from China Glaze, I did not mean this but obviously their City Flourish collection really got to me! Here is a photo combining all the colors, you will find their names listed below.

China Glaze Sun of a Peach nail polish review
This one was released as a neon crème from the Sunsational summer 2013 collection. It is a gorgeous color which has everything I love in a summer color. You may look at it as a super bright orangey coral which brings tons of good mood and sunshine to nails. I had done my homework before I got this one and read the reviews out there. I read about its awful formula, how it is transparent, streaks and takes too much effort for opaque coverage but I decided to get it anyway. How hard could it be, right? Well, all negative things about Sun of a Peach formula you will read out there are true to the last word, sadly. Formula is thin, streaks, it is difficult to control and is definitely not a good choice for someone in a hurry as it needs at least 4 coats for a beautiful full coverage. The one positive thing is maybe that it does not take long to dry. I am sorry my experience did not prove the negative hype about this nail polish wrong but this is how things are. I still absolutely love the color though!

Color is super difficult to photograph and I suggest if you are considering China Glaze Sun of a Peach for your collection, see it in real first.

So this was my China Glaze haul, I promise to show you all colors soon. Did you get any City Flourish nail polishes yet? What’s in your wish list?
