Hello lovelies!

It has been a while since I last shared a manicure with you. My previous months have been really hectic and while juggling various responsibilities this winter it almost came to an end. It is March now and we are just a step away from spring :)

I think it is a good time for a winter nail art roundup and this post features my favorite manicures since December.

China Glaze Wish On A Starfish: review and swatches

Which are your favorite winter nail designs?

Hello lovelies!

Today I want to share with you a beautiful and girly textured formula. China Glaze Wish On A Starfish is a pink textured formula with fine gold shimmer. You can see gold hue are very prominent on photos taken in the sun (first two) and not so loud on photos taken out of direct sunlight (last two). Formula is rather thin but very easy to build as it dies not dry too bumpy and is not difficult to layer. For all photos in this post I have 2 coats on.

China Glaze Wish On A Starfish: review and swatches

Being a textured formula, Wish On A Starfish is not meant to be worn with a top coat on. This makes it fade in two days. To wear it longer I would suggest you either layer 3 coats or add a third layer after 1 day of wear. To take Wish On A Starfish off simply hold a pad soaked in nail polish remove on your nail for 15 to 20 seconds, it is not too stubborn to remove.

Zoya Maya review and swatches

Formula and application
Zoya Maya is a mix between jelly and creme formulas. It is medium thick, sheer in one coat and color is buildable. It is easy to use as formula is not runny compared to other crelly nail polishes. I have two coats on in the photos and a top coat. Zoya Maya dries with a great shine and it is not necessary to add a top coat for the sole purpose of adding brilliance.

Wear
When in two coats, Zoya Maya wears for two days with no chips. In three coats it wears for steady four days but then it looks more a creme than a crelly.

My verdict
I love the jelly finish of this coral. I find this way it works better on larger number of skin tones, including my yellowish undertone. This definitely is my go to coral.

Which is your favorite coral shade? Do you like wearing crelly formulas?

Hello lovelies!

I have some thoughts on China Glaze Luxe and Lush to share with you.

Here is a skittle swatch to show how this nail polish works with different colors as a base.  I thought nude, black, white and blue would be the best options and have not tried it in any different combinations though.

Formula and application
China Glaze Luxe and Lush nail polish is an effect top coat with. The formula is flakes in a rather runny clean base. It is easy to apply and is also buildable. My first two photos above show Luxe and Lush in two coats on bare nails.

What I love about the flakes is that they do not tend to stick out your nails once the nail polish is dry. This formula dries almost perfectly smooth. Adding a layer of clear top coat will not hurt to smooth things out even more but it is not obligatory as with many othr flaky formulas you may have tried in the past.

Wear
Two coats of China Glaze Luxe and Lush will stay on your nails for two days if alone and no top coat added and for 4 days if applied on a colored base. I have not tried the second combination with additional layers of top coat so I cannot comment if that would increase the tine of wear.

This nail polish is easy to remove without soaking the nails into nail polish remover. Just count to ten with your ail polish remover pressed to your nail before you wipe the nail polish off.

My verdict
China Glaze Luxe and Lush is one of my favorite effects top coat formulas. It turned out to be pretty versatile too. When I made my skittle swatch I thought I could wear all of the base colors in combination with this formulas with pleasure.

So that was my info on Luxe and Lush, I hope it was useful!

Hello lovelies!

The idea of creating your own jelly formula has been really tempting for a while. I finally tried it and here is the jelly raspberry nail polish I came out with.

DIY jelly nail polish experiment and tips

To get your own jelly nail polish formula simply add a few dots of creme formula to a leftover clear top coat. In my photos you see 5 drops of Barry M Raspberry mixed into about 2 ml of L’Oreal Resist and shine clear top coat. I have 4 coats of this DIY jelly nail polish on my nails.

DIY jelly nail polish tips

TIP 1: Choose an opaque creme
Choosing an opaque creme nail polish will help you get the pigmentation you prefer. If your colored formula is too think or sheer you may end up adding color forever with what seems no effect at all.

TIP 2: Add a drop at a time
Add one single drop at a time and mix well so that you can get a better view of your mixture. Adding more color later is easier than trying to dilute an over colored base.

TIP 3: Do not use fast drying top coat
Use a regular / long lasting / strengthening etc. clear nail polish instead of fast drying one. Fast drying top coats do not blend well with added formula and you may end up with a streaky mixture which will not build up beautifully on nails.

So this was my first successful DIY jelly nail polish experiment. My next stop will be a black jelly :)

Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoyed!

Hello lovelies!

Today I have for you a cute and super lazy Christmas tree nail idea. I love the nude base with neon glitter formula of Yes Love G1-5 glitter nail polish I reviewed below. I thought it would be fun if I added a Christmas tree on white base. I used striping tape to outline the tree and added a golden stud on top to embellish it.

Yes Love G1-5 neon glitter nail polish review
A few words regarding this Yes Love nail polish characteristics. This formula is a beautiful peachy nude base packed with different sized neon particles. The formula is rather sheer on two coats so for these nails I got full coverage in three layers. You get a lot of neon particles in this nail polish so you will not have to struggle to get any on your nails. The formula lasts for 4 days with top coat. It is difficult to remove so I suggest using the kitchen foil method to take all glitter off without rubbing and damaging your nail base.

You can get nail polishes from this range online, packed in 6 for a fair price. They are fun to wear, I have 6 and enjoy each of them :)

Hello lovelies!

Today I am happy to share with you some thoughts on another gem by dance Legend, the gorgeous Avada Kedavra.

Avada Kedavra is part of the Lumos collection of the Russian nail polish brand. It comes in a bottle equipped with a flashlight :) You can see how it looks with the flashlight on in direct sunshine as wel as in a dark room.

Formula and application

Avada Kedavra is actually small different sized flakes in a clear base. Depending on how light hits the flakes, they appear bluish or greenish.

Below I have two coats of Avada Kedavra on a black base. What can I say, I absolutely love how it looks! Flakes are easy to distribute evenly and lay flat on your nail once the formula is dry. It is easier to remove compared to glitter nail polishes and a bit harder than your regular creme.

Wear

How Avada Kedavra will wear depends on the base you will be layering it over. In my case I had it on for 3 days with no wear signs. Its clear base can serve as a top coat and wearing a top coat is optional with Avada Kedavra but I still recommend a layer of top coat if you want to wear it longer.

My verdict

I absolutely love Avada Kedavra, I think it is rather unique and it fits perfectly the Halloween theme :) It is such a shame Dance Legend nail polishes are so hard to find out of Russia…
