Hello everyone!

Welcome back to my Preview column where we talk about anticipated and inspiring nail products that are about to be released. Today’s post is about a spring 2014 nail polish collection from Catrice. It is called Catrice Ultimate Nails Spring 2014 and is about to hit the drugstore shelves in February 2014. We will have two separate collections.

Crushed Crystals collection
Crushed Crystals is all about nail polish effects. This collection features 6 shades with glossy and sand finish. We should expect textured 3D nails in fashionable colors for the upcoming 2104 spring season. Catrice promise high coverage for Crushed Crystals nail polishes and that would be fantastic if true because usually 3D effects come in too sheer formulas.

Ultimate Nail Laquer collection
Ultimate Nail Laquer is a permanent collection which will have 13 new colors added for the spring/summer season. Catrice are proud of this collection for having super glossy formula with an innovative reservoir brush. The brush is designed to pick the right amount of nail polish necessary to color one nail and has a rounded shape to make application easier and possible with just one stroke. You know how much I love rounded brushes! They save time, skip the mess and I really apply color in just one motion (OK, 2 for the thumbs). This collection will have a total of 40 shades.

Hello lovelies!

I was nominated for the Liebster award, yay!

The Liebster award is an initiative designed to promote new and/or small blogs with less than 200 followers at Bloglovin’. I think it is a great idea and I am happy to receive the Liebster award nomination and pay it forward.  Thanks to lovely Lauren from Daisy Drops blog  who nominated me!

Liebster award

Liebster award

So how does it work?
1. You must link back to the person who nominated you and answer the 11 questions they asked you with their nomination.
2. You must pick 11 nominees yourself and tell them they have been nominated. You cannot pick the person who nominated you.
3. You must ask your nominees 11 questions of your choice

My answers to Lauren’s questions

1. What is your favourite beauty product and why?
My favorite beauty product is the face moisturizer. I cannot live without a good moisturizer and among all benefits you get from it I think it makes the big difference when it comes to makeup.

2. What is your favourite nail polish colour?
Maybe I should not mention this is a tough one :) If I really had to pick one, I would say vibrant pink. It is a classic shade, has some character and at the same time may complement almost any outfit.

3. What inspired you to create your blog?
I needed a place of mine where to share my nail art love with people who actually care. My husband helped me a lot with blog setup and photos and made this project look possible.

4. What is your dream holiday destination?
I’d love to go to New Zealand some day. It seems like Heaven on earth to me!

5. What’s your favourite clothing store?
I shop for clothes in mainstream fashion stores. My last purchases were mainly at Mohito fashion shop, so it must be my current favorite clothing destination.

6. What’s your favourite beauty brand?
My favorite drugstore beauty brand is Bourjois Paris, I love almost everything I got there. My high street favorite must is Yves-Saint Laurent.

7. Do you have any pets?
I used to have a dog. Now I have a baby :)

8. What is your favourite movie?

I am a frequent theatre visitor and a movie addict, so please don’t  make me answer this question :) The last movie I really liked was Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity (2013), starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.

9. What make up brushes do you use?
I use a stippling brush to apply foundation and a blush brush. I own a ton of other brushes, but most of the time I apply makeup with my fingers :)

10. Do you prefer fashion or beauty?
Definitely fashion!

11.   What’s your favourite lip balm?
My absolute favorite lip balm is Bioderma Atoderm moisturising stick.

Hello lovelies!

I want to share with you my black and white feather manicure. This is the first time I make such design just because I thought it would be too difficult to draw the feather detail free handedly. I have been so wrong! This nail art is gentle and sophisticated but at the same time easy to make. This feathery manicure can take some hand flinch or some imperfections because the feather detail is meant to look a little fluffy and airy, if this makes any sense :)

I know I promised a post dedicated to my Liebster award nomination and it will be here soon. I just need some more time to think it over so that I will be able to really contribute to this great initiative. Until then, the feather nails :)

First, paint your nails white.
Make sure to use a thick white shade to a sheer one. This will make the perfect canvas for some drawing.

How to add feathers to your nails?
For this feather nail art I used a regular stippling brush from a nail art polish. Aim for a slightly curved line rather than a straight stripe. Start adding short lines from top to bottom of this line, making the strokes slightly longer as you are getting close to the bottom. Do this for the two sides of your feather. At this point it may not look too much as a feather, but it will :) Now add some more strokes to both sides but this time try to make them with a different angle to the main line, slightly crossing your previously created lines. This will create a little depth and motion to your feather.

I think this nail design can easily make a great wedding day manicure.

Last, add a mat top coat.
We all know feathers are not gel-look-top-polish shiny so for this nail art tutorial I picked a mat top coat.

Black: Golden Rose nail art in black
Mat top coat: Flormar matifying top coat

Hello everyone,

Today I want to share with you another wedding manicure I created. It is a classic French manicure embellished with tiny gold and silver beads. This will be a rather straightforward tutorial regarding the nail design but I will take some time to tell you my favorite and easy way to apply embellishments to nails.

Paint your nails a nude color.
You can play with the color and chose your favorite shade which will complement your skin tone. I chose a classic natural beige shade and applied 3 coats to achieve an allover color instead of a see through look.

Add the French tip.
This nail design is based on the classic French manicure. Add a white tip to all your nails using guiding stripes. We have discussed how you can use DIY guiding stripes made by regular tape but for this manicure I would suggest to get original French tip guides. This is because original French tip guides are slightly curved to match your natural nail shape, plus we will be looking for perfection, it is a special day after all :)

How to add gold and silver nail jewels.
I used tiny nail art beads you can find in nail art supplies shops as well as online. You know I do not use nail art glue to stick embellishments to nails. I also do not use any picking tool, my technique to position the beads is very easy, just read on.

+ put some gold and silver beads on a towel. This way they would stay in place and won’t start rolling everywhere
+ add a thin coat of clear nail polish at the base of your French tip
+ press your finger on the beads, some of them will stay on it
+ press your finger with the beads onto the clear nail polish line

This is a clean and easy way to attach all kinds of tiny embellishment to your nails. With practice it gets easier and you will be able to control the result to perfection.

Last, add a fat top coat.
To seal the design together, apply a gel look top coat. I have tried using thinner formulas, but they do not grasp the little embellishment as well as fat ones.

White: Essie Blanc
Top coat: Rimmel London 3D Plumping top coat
Beads: gold and silver

Hello dear friends!

I am so excited to share with you the new look of my blog! A lot of effort was put into this cute and girly pastel color design and I love it!

Blog features have not changed much apart from the drop down menus in the menu bar. Now we have the Tutorials menu which has all my How-Tos and Manicure tips; the Everything nails menu pretty much says what you can find there; and my newly created Mix Box column, hosting  topics unrelated to nails which I still want to share with you.

You can still reach me at my previous social media accounts and use the contact form to get in touch.

For historical purposes I include a snapshot of how nailcentric.net looked just a few days ago :)

Hello lovelies!

It is barely January and I am already anticipating the spring season. I got hooked to the pastel colors trend for spring/summer this year and I’d love to wear it this season. I am sharing with you my spring 2014 fashion inspiration board dedicated to pastel color trend. Of course, this post is in the Mix Box, my blog section totally unrelated to manicure :)

My picks to pull off the pastel colors fashion trend for spring 2014 are in the inspiration board below.

Parka
The parka is mu ultimate choice for a casual outwear. I think it is perfect for spring, as well as autumn and colder summer nights. A pastel color parka can be a key piece in a spring 2014 look. I love this pastel pink 4 pocket jacket from Next.

Ankle boots
I love how versatile these ankle boots by Dr. Martens are. The colors seem a little pretentious but the boots themselves are a versatile spring shoe option. I love how they look with skinny jeans, skirts and dresses and it you do not want to show them off too much, you can always wear them with the good old bootcut jeans pair on top.

Candy color jeans
Spring is the best season to freshen up the look so that it goes perfectly with new  nature colors and finally there sunshine :) I love the candy colored pastel jeans for a casual and youthful look.

Hair color
As much as I love ombre hairstyle I will not go for pastel lilac all over. Anyways, my spring hair refreshment look features pastel colored hair extensions to clip in hair. Colorful clip in hair strands are a great way to keep up with the trend without giving up your right to go back to natural when you have an important business meeting.

Multiple bracelets
From all jewellry out there my favorite piece must be the bracelet. Rolled up sleeves are my signature thing so bracelets fit just right there and make a perfect way to wear a trend. A multiple pastel color bracelet will complete a look no matter of the main color you have chosen for your look. I love Next’s Pastel expander bracelet.

Pastel nails
Pastel nails are a strong nail trend for 2014 and I will wear them with pleasure. I find the pale yellow shade more unique and rare so I will be looking for this color as soon as spring 2014 nail polish collections hit the stores this season.

Thanks for sharing my inspiration! Will you be rocking the pastel trend this spring/summer season?.

Hello lovelies!

Today I want to share with you how to make this pink zebra nail design. This is a bizarre pastel pink animal with mat skin, white stripes and a hint of gold :) Read on for a step-by-step tutorial.

First, paint your nails soft pink.
I was in a mood for a baby pink these days. You can chose any favorite pink you have but I believe this design will look as romantic and soft as it is now if you use a paler shade.

Second, add zebra stripes.
Again, to get this gentle zebra look I chose to make white stripes instead of black ones. I draw zebra stripes freehandedly but have featured this zebra print how to in my earlier tutorial, in case you will need a guide. I used a stripping brush I made by trimming and old clear coat brush. I have already given you this idea in my 5 DIY nail products you can get for free.

Then, add a mat top coat.
It is a good idea to add the mat top coat before the gold zebra stripes because gold colors usually have some glitter in it and you do not want to steal away their sparkle by covering it with a mat formula.

Last, add gold detail.
My gold color comes with a stripping brush so I used it to add the stripes. You need just a few touches here and there as this step is meant to add a gold hint to your strange animal skin rather than overwhelm it with glitter.
